I have always found studying other peoples' gear list to be helpful. If anyone has a link or would post their's I would find it most useful. Please consider any comments, feedback, or reviews of gear choices. How did your list change over different segments or by the end of trail.

Here's my gear list:

Comments:
Poncho: Loved it, would do it again. I started out with a really heavy US Army issue poncho (a real poncho and not just the liner). Later upgraded to the Sil nylon, wished I had done that earlier.
Jet Boil Stove: Loved it. Works like a dream, great fuel efficency no fuss, no muss, just hot food when you want it. Next time I'll take the Group Cook System so I can do quesadillas, stir fry and cook fish.
New Balance 809's- Ok, light weight, tough shoes that took the punishment and lasted, but didn't protect the bottom of my feet as much as I would have liked against sharp rocks. Next time I'll upgrade to a more rugged hiking shoe.
Thorlos- Best hiking socks ever. I won't use anything else. 2,000 miles before they needed replacement.
Petzl Tikka Headlamp- Bright, efficent, does the job, started out with a coast torch, but the battery life was too short and the beam too focused.
Leatherman Juice Xe6- Total overkill but I loved it anyway, there were a few times it saved my butt, plus I drank a lot of wine on the trail and it had a wine opener.
Granite Gear Vapor Trail- Incredibly comfortable pack, but just a hair too small for my needs. Next time I'll upgrade to the next biggest pack in the Granite Gear Line.
Marmot Trestles 30 degree bag- Synthetic bag, did the job but was just too bulky in my pack. It took up 1/2 the room in my pack. Next time I'll grab a synthetic bag from LaFuma.
Z-rest- Not really needed in the desert (I usually slept on sand), but much appreciated later. I also liked how I could just whip it out at lunch (something I never saw the blow-up therma rest guys doing).
