For me if it is COMFORT I haul along a heavy Big Agnes Air Core ~ 20 x 72 x 2.5" ~ 1 lb 12 oz

but for WEIGHT I am so in love with my new
Gossamer Gear ThinLight weighs in at only 5 oz and its 28 x 72 x 1/4"

I know it is not suppose to be for sleeping only, but rather just insulation under another pad...but it worked out so well. I love not rolling off it. I am thinking of scoring it so I can fold it in half.

I've got the both the ThermaRest 3/4 and the Z-Rest. Used the ThermaRest on my 2003 AT thru and liked it. Thinking about switching over to the Z-Rest on the PCT though ...at least in the beginning.

For my thru hike I used (and still do) a three quarter length Thermarest plus a Ridgerest foam pad.
(Ridgerest underneath towards the foot end)
The total weight is about 1 lb 6 oz, the result very comfortable. :)
Just as a matter of interest, at one stage I sustained a couple of punctures to the Thermarest from ground thistles or something on the PCT - this only happened the once and I was able to permanently fix the punctures by first locating them with a bit of water and then utilising a bandaid from my 'first aid kit' and a spot of superglue.
