Starting the PCT in from Canada

I'm planning on hiking the Washington and Oregon sections in one stretch. I'm just concerned about how early can I start? I'd like to start in May about the 2nd week or so but I'm just trying to see if anyone knows about the conditions that early.

I can't speak for Oregon but the North Cascades Wilderness snow is head high near Stehekin, most years through May.
They also had some large fires in the area of Holden Village, not sure if they affected the PCT but would lead to slide's in the spring too.
