The fire is burning in difficult terrain, making the fire inaccessable for engines. It was identified that the fire was burning in a naturally occurring Asbestos area. Fire commanders implemented the "Clear Creek Hazardous Asbestos Area Emergency Management Plan" requiring firefighters to be removed from the area and their equipment decontaminated. The fire made an active run to the northwest in the Avenal Creek Drainage burning several hundred acres with most of the fire activity burning away from major power lines.
